Position Descriptions:

 

MD/NR EMT - P (Paramedic)

Position Summary: The Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad and the City of Crisfield are accepting resumes from qualified individuals for the position of Maryland certified paramedic (EMT-P), and nationally certified paramedic (NR-P). The primary objective of the paramedic is to provide safe and expedient response to emergent and non-emergent calls where patient care is provided and continued in route to a definitive care facility.

Essential Functions:

The paramedic may be assigned one or more duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Presents himself/herself in a professional manner and displays a good public image for Lower Somerset EMS and the City of Crisfield in accordance with company policy.

• Adheres to the policies and procedures of Lower Somerset EMS, including the organization’s standard operating procedure and medical protocols.

• Participate and completes all daily assignments proficiently, punctually and in accordance with the directives of the Station Captain and other management team members.

• Complete appropriate documentation in accordance with the Company and MIEMSS policies and procedures.

• Provides an environment and equipment conducive to safety for patients, family members, visitors, and employees and members, and in compliance with set precautions and approved standards. Assesses risks to patient safety.

• Operates emergency vehicles in a safe manner at all times.

• Maintains vehicles and station in a clean and presentable manner at all times.

• The employee shall strive to exceed Lower Somerset EMS’ expectations for cleanliness of vehicles and the Station.

• Response to instructions from Somerset Communications and drives specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations.

• Maintains communications equipment, medical equipment and supplies in accordance with applicable standards.

• Has direct report to the Station Captain for any and all Lower Somerset EMS involved situations.

 

Additional Duties:

The paramedic (EMT-P) May be assigned one or more additional duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

May serve as team lead to other personnel on the call (drivers/EMT-B).

Perform other job related duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. The individual in this position must possess the following qualifications:

Currently certified as a Maryland EMT-P or nationally registered EMT-P.

Current American Heart Association CPR for the healthcare provider certification.

Current Maryland state drivers license.

Satisfactory driving record in accordance with Lower Somerset EMS driving policy.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work cooperatively with other employees, volunteers and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care.

Ability to read and interpret all required documentation and write required reports and correspondence.

Physical ability to perform all tasks required in the performance of typical EMT-P duties, including but not limited to, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting established weight requirements, climbing, working at heights, etc.

Strong organizational skills and attentiveness to detail.

Ability to maintain a professional manner and appearance at all times. Other Information:

• This is a benefited position. The City of Crisfield provides medical, dental, and vision benefits to full time employees after 60 days.

• Positions falls on ‘D and A’ shift on a 24/72 schedule.
